Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief is implementing a three year community based health care programme in northern Uganda, with the support of the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) through the Canadian International Immunization Programme Phase 2. The stated goal of this project is to reduce the incidence of preventable disease among the populations involved. CPAR hopes to achieve this goal through a variety of training and support activities that will create a permanent and sustainable health care infrastructure within partner communities. Locally based in Kampala it has a field base in LORO, Apac district. In the coming year, it is expected that CPAR will enter into a closer partnership with

CPHA is a new funding partner of UCBHCA since 1994. The main area of support has been in capacity building of programme leaders working with Organizations funded under the Canadian Immunization programme phase 2 (CIP2). USAID is currently supporting UCBHCA PNFP facilities with RDTs, ACTs, LLINT and Family planning (F.P) commodities and supplies from the PMI, USAID also has supported the establishment of the integrated human resource system at UCBHCA offices for PFP facilities this under the USAID/Intra - Health. SAID also supported the review of UCHBCA Constitution under the USAID private sector health support

UNICEF also supported UCBHCA to train 40 national facilitators in CPHCA and also helped us in construction of UCBHCA head offices in Entebbe on Berkeley Road.

 

WHO jointly supported UCBHCA to implement PHC/CBHC projects in Uganda

Ministry of health provides Technical support and Linkage to the donors

Austrian Service for Development Cooperation whose funding started the kyalumba CBHC programme in Kasese district in 1991. The programme focuses on woman and children in Kyalumba sub- County. O.E.D supports health-related projects in Kabarole,Kasese Mbarara and Kampala district.

AMREF Nairobi was contracted by UNICEF to train UCBHCA national facilitators in CBHC approach. AMREF was also contracted by UNICEF to GUIDE UCBHCA to implement community based health care programs in Uganda which have been successful to date
